First AOR arrives in Western Australia

The Royal Australian Navy (RAN)’s new Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment (AOR) ship, NUSHIP Supply, arrived today at HMAS Stirling, Garden Island in Western Australia.

NUSHIP Supply will now undergo an Australian fit-out to fit specialised equipment that cannot be installed overseas for security reasons such as the Close-In Weapons system, communications suite, Typhoon and Combat system. A team of experienced Navantia and defence industry specialists will perform the fit-out.

Navantia says goodbye to AAOR “Supply” on its departure to Australia

Navantia farewelled Australian Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment (AAOR) “Supply” this morning, as she left from Pier 9 of the Ferrol shipyard to begin her transit to Australia. The transit is expected to take approximately 35 days of navigation. The departure of “Supply” celebrated with a small ceremony taking place.

NUSHIP Supply, the lead ship for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN)’s Supply class Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment (AOR) ships sailed away today from Navantia’s Ferrol shipyard in Spain for Australia. NUSHIP Supply will arrive in Western Australia early October and will be based at HMAS Stirling where the installation and testing of the combat and communications systems, as well as some logistics areas will be completed by Australian industry.

A demonstration of cooperation in the Amphibious Combat and Sealift Systems Enterprise between the Navantia Australia team, the Amphibious Combat and Sealift Systems Program Office (ACSSPO) and Naval Ship Management Australia, earlier this year saw CCTV installed on the Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) Landing Craft, providing Navy with new capability.

The role of the Designer in DDG Aegis Baseline 9 Combat System upgrade

The Combat System is one of the most critical major systems in a warship. SEA4000 Phase 6 has been established to modernise the class to integrate Aegis Baseline 9.

As the design authority for the Hobart Class, Navantia Australia is best placed to identify and clearly understand the extant ship specification requirements in addition to those applicable to the new equipment or system.

Navantia Australia completes LHD design upgrade

Navantia Australia has delivered all the baseline design drawings for Phase 2 (Forward Projector) of the Advanced Stabilised Glide Slope Indicator (ASGSI) project on the Canberra class Landing Helicopter Docks (LHD), bringing to a close a project lasting over 10+ long months and over 3,500 hours of engineering labour.
