LHD Landing Craft Enhancement Program Winner of 2020 Essington Lewis Award – Minor Sustainment Activity under $20m

The Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) Landing Craft (LLC) Enhancement Program is the winner of the 2020 Essington Lewis Awards – Minor Sustainment Activity – Under $20 million. Navantia Australia, UGL, Defence Science and Technology, Navy Technical Bureau, led by the Amphibious Combat and Sealift System Program Office (ACSSPO), and Capability Support Coordinator, KBR, formed a collaborative multi-stakeholder engineering team to achieve a significant enhancement to the LLC capability.

First AOR arrives in Western Australia

| Garden Island, Western Australia

The Royal Australian Navy (RAN)’s new Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment (AOR) ship, NUSHIP Supply, arrived today at HMAS Stirling, Garden Island in Western Australia. NUSHIP Supply will now undergo an Australian fit-out to fit specialised equipment that cannot be installed overseas for security reasons such as the Close-In Weapons system, communications suite, Typhoon and Combat system. A team of experienced Navantia and defence industry specialists will perform the fit-out.

First AOR sets sail for Australia

| Ferrol, Spain

NUSHIP Supply, the lead ship for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN)’s Supply class Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment (AOR) ships sailed away today from Navantia’s Ferrol shipyard in Spain for Australia. NUSHIP Supply will arrive in Western Australia early October and will be based at HMAS Stirling where the installation and testing of the combat and communications systems, as well as some logistics areas will be completed by Australian industry.

The role of the Designer in DDG Aegis Baseline 9 Combat System upgrade
