As a Structural Engineer, you will be working within the “Structural” division of Navantia Australia and will be responsible to deliver systems for naval ships.
In this role, you will:
The Structural Engineer is responsible for working within the Structural Engineering division of Navantia Australia’s Naval Design and Engineering Centre to deliver structural elements and analyses for naval ships. System responsibilities include:
- Hull structure (plating, primary and secondary members);
- Equipment foundations (major and minor);
- Major support structures (walking platform, construction jig, transport cradles etc.).
As the ideal candidate, you will have:
- Bachelor Degree – Engineering (Naval Architecture, Structural, Aeronautical, Mechanical)
- 3+ years proven skills and experience in a Structure and/or Naval Architecture function;
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, both first principles and FEA;
- Demonstrated understanding of structures (particularly, ship) and material (particularly, steel) properties.
- Project Management, including management of task schedule and progress monitoring and reporting
- Strong work ethics and interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision making skills;
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high pressure environment;

Due to great success and ongoing projects, we and are expanding our team and are looking for a Senior Combat Systems Integration Engineer to join the Naval Design and Engineering Centre in its Melbourne, Docklands office. You will come with strong technical and design knowledge and lead the Combat Systems Integration discipline within the Engineering division of Navantia Australia’s Naval Design and Engineering Centre to deliver combat systems integration for naval ships.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a successful multi-disciplined Engineering team and work alongside industry leaders and like-minded engineers on exciting new naval ship designs.
In this role you will:
- Work within the Combat Systems division within Navantia Australia to provide engineering services for naval ships.
- Work effectively within the broader Navantia Engineering Team by engaging and working with the different engineering disciplines.
- Provide high level of naval engineering technical competence based on relevant experience and knowledge.
- Provide experience and broad technical knowledge of functional and detailed design related to Combat Systems Integration of a naval ship
- Work effectively and collaboratively across the different engineering discipline at the Navantia Design and Engineering Centre, and Engineering teams working on the Programs
- Work effectively within the broader Navantia Australia Engineering Team (Melbourne, Sydney, W.A, Canberra) to engage with different engineering disciplines in the development of new naval ship system designs
- Work effectively within the broader Navantia Engineering Team (Spain, UK, Norway,…) to engage with different engineering disciplines in the development of new naval ship system designs
Skills and experience required:
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in an engineering function.
- Very strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate
- Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision‐making skills
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high‐pressure environment
- Ability to manage, prioritise and complete multiple tasks concurrently.

- Proven ability to produce and review clear and well‐presented reports to a suitable quality and standard
- 2D/3D CAD and other specialist software as required to review design information.
- MS Office to develop reports, spreadsheet data and presentation information.
- MS Project to monitor task and manage resources
- Knowledge and experience of vessel outfit and the requirements for equipment integration, preferably Naval Ships and with direct shipyard experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of statutory regulations and Classification and Flag rule sets.
- Knowledge and experience of ship Combat System integration design and its application to local structure and foundations.
- Knowledge and experience of ship systems design and its impact upon integration.

We are seeking an Administration Officer based in Melbourne. This role is available for an immediate start.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside a wonderful office with great culture and be an integral part of the team.
The position is required to be onsite 5 days per week, with a start time between 8-9AM and finishing between 4-5PM. We would also consider part time job share.
The Office Administrator & Receptionist is responsible for providing site-based administrative support and reception coverage. The Role:

Navantia Australia has been awarded the Designer Support Contract to provide comprehensive design and engineering support to all Navantia-designed ships in service with the Royal Australian Navy. This landmark contract marks a significant milestone for Navantia Australia, as it is the company’s first contract held directly with the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA), underscoring its commitment to innovation and excellence in the maritime industry.
Due to Navantia Australia’s ongoing success, we have exciting opportunities for multiple graduate engineers to come and be part of our ever growing organisation. You will support the delivery of combat systems integration projects and tasks for RAN ships. Responsibility includes the provision of engineering services, technical advice, investigations and solution development for the platform integration elements of the following (where applicable):
Your responsibilities will include:
• Provide engineering technical competence based on relevant experience and knowledge.
• Support design activities for naval ship systems, applying robust systems engineering processes.
• Undertake technical investigations, root cause analysis and solution identification.
• Deliver technical reports and technical documentation in accordance with established Navantia and customer standards.
• Work effectively within the broader Navantia Engineering Team to engage with different engineering disciplines in the development of new naval ship system designs.
• Support assigned engineering projects from concept through to delivery.
• Support and attend design coordination meetings with engineering project stakeholders.

As a Naval Architect, you will be working within the “General Design” division of Navantia Australia and will be responsible to deliver systems for naval ships.
In this role, you will:
- Naval Architecture
- Weight Control
- Stability
- Seakeeping
- Ship Performance – Speed, Range, Crew Requirements, Operating Environment, Maneuvering,
- General Arrangement design
- Structural calculations to the required standards
- Class Society
- Ensure ship systems are designed, delivered and maintained within Class Society rules and requirements
- Equipment certification
- Ensure compliance to legislative requirements – IMO, AMSA, Commercial and Naval Standards
- Conduct Systems Engineering assessments of General Design requirements to confirm compliance with the standard and platform specifications
- Document deliverables in accordance Navantia and Customer Management Plans
- Support Business Development submission in accordance with ASDEFCON framework
- Liaison with Clients (internal & external) and subcontractors
- Requirements analysis and verification development.
- Perform engineering investigations and develop documentation such as reports and specifications.
- Interface with other Platform System disciplines for the delivery of technical services.
- Deliver quality documents in line with the scope and on time
- Project Management, including management of task schedule, resourcing, budget and progress monitoring and reporting.
- Other duties as required to support Navantia Australia activities.
As the ideal candidate, you will have:
- Currently studying a Tertiary qualifications in Engineering – Naval Architecture or Ocean Engineering
- Australian Citizen mandatory

- 2D CAD (AutoCAD) to produce design information.2D/3D CAD and other specialist software as required to produce and to review design information.
- Familiarity with Class Society (primarily Lloyds Register Rules)
- Familiarity with IMO requirements
- Eligibility to qualify for ITAR clearance
- Knowledge and experience of ship structural design and its application to local structure and foundations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively, but can also operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high-pressure environment.
- Australian Citizenship holding or eligible for an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Defence Security Clearance to a minimum of Baseline
