Life at Navantia Australia

Working at Navantia Australia will provide you with a unique opportunity to be part of a growing company that is able access the experience and expertise of a top European shipbuilder company with 300 years of experience.

We specialise in project management, engineering services and through life support in the shipbuilding domain. Through our participation in the air warfare destroyer (AWD) project, landing helicopter dock (LHD) project and LHD landing craft (LLC) project, Navantia Australia has developed significant engineering capability in Australia.

We are committed to the Australian shipbuilding industry and in turn building Australian’s national maritime capability. With the Australian Government embarking on several multi-billion dollar maritime investment programs, these are exciting times for the industry.

To meet the challenge of meeting the needs of the Royal Australian Navy, we are embarking on an expansion program and growing our operations across Australia.

We pride ourselves on being an equal opportunity employer and embrace a culture of corporate diversity and workplace innovation. Safety is paramount in our industry. We are committed to protecting the safety of our employees, our environment and our communities.

At Navantia Australia you aren’t just joining a business, you are part of our family.

Graduates and Entry Level

Building skills is an essential part of building Australia’s shipbuilding capability. We have strong relationships with Australian technical institutions such as the Welding Technology Institute of Australia and TAFE SA, and Australian Universities. Since 2013 the University of South Australia, the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, and the University of Tasmania through the Australian Maritime College, have supported the development of our workforce and shipbuilding programs.

Navantia Australia offers a range of internships to students from the University of Adelaide, University of South Australia, University of Tasmania and RMIT. Many of these students have gone on to work with Navantia in our Australian shipbuilding and support programs.

In the 2017 Internship Program, students undertook a 20-week placement in Garden Island, Sydney, to gain experience in support of Australian naval platforms. Interns are also engaged in Navantia Australia’s Adelaide facilities, where they gain experience working on Navantia’s shipbuilding programs.

Our 1 year Graduate Program is designed to expose you to unique learning opportunities, while contributing to real projects.

We offer

  • A tailored, highly individualised program tailored to your needs and aspirations
  • Comprehensive on the job training both in Australian and Spain

Once a year we seek applications from Engineering Graduates in the following disciplines:

  • Electrical
  • Systems
  • Mechanical

  • General Design

What we look for:

  • Willing to think outside the square
