AOR Program
- HMAS Supply successfully completed a Sea trial to test performance and obtain first data for fuel consumption optimization.
- Navantia Australia Through Life Support Facility, IPMS and Engines factory specialists took part to perform the first tests needed for the development of the ECO propulsion mode. This mode will allow the Australian Navy to save thousands of dollars every year as fuel consumption will be significantly reduced.
- Navantia Australia thanks all HMAS Supply Ship Staff for making this test possible and also a special thanks to SPO engineering members, Liam and Caroline, that supported this initiative.

Performance Reviews 2023
The company is in the final stages of preparing the new Salary Review and Salary Budget models, which will underpin this change.
The completion of annual performance reviews and end of year review ratings will be a factor in the new salary review model and whilst the company has previously advised the cut-off date for 2022 end of year reviews was in December, as part of transitional arrangements the date for completion of reviews and submission to HR via hr.au@navantia.com.au has been extended to 15 February 2023.
Last year’s Performance Review template is available on the HR wiki, however, please do not use this form to set up Performance Reviews for 2023, as advised previously these will be deployed via Employment Hero.
Further information on the Salary Review model and the roll out of Performance Reviews via Employment Hero will follow shortly.

Technology & Digital Transformation
The IPMS team recently upgraded the LHD IPMS power plant controllers during a maintenance period to a new range of M580 processors. This work is part of a gradual modernisation plan of the IPMS.
Both of these controllers are a vital part of the ship’s operation, and the task involved a significant degree of complexity and high specialisation to perform. All the work was carried out without interfering with the rest of the EMP’s tasks or the normal operation of the ship.
The IPMS is a set of hardware and software elements that allow the automation, control and supervision of all the equipment that is installed on the ship with the exception of the combat system. Navantia’s IPMS is unique in that it provides the operator with three different yet integrated views of the data: in 3D using the ship’s 3D model, in 2D schematics, and in the Data View.

Quality & Risk
- 77 assessments were undertaken by the AOR team on companies who performed work for the EMPs in 2022.
- The assessments by AOR staff measure the company’s works in accordance with:
- Quality requirements
- Compliance with the contract
- Value for money
- Ability to improve
- The assessments help form Navantia’s governance on noncontrolling outputs (i.e. other companies doing works we have no control over doing)
- These assessments also help build our database of vendors that Navantia Australia staff trust to undertake good work.
- Vendors who were assessed as not meeting our requirements our viewed by the Supplier Review Committee on what further analysis we should undertake, e.g., more in depth assessments or even an external audit.
Supply Chain
Daniel Bax recently had the opportunity to present at the ADA-VIC conference in December 2022. There he managed to gather 15 potential manufacturers and suppliers for Land 8710 and DDG’s, which are now in our AIC database.
As for 2023, Supply Chain plan to visit more industry events and manufacturers in Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.
Supply chain are collaborating on an IT project with the Technology & Digital Transformation team and UTS. They are also providing AIC input for the Navantia Seanergies project.
