Navantia Australia will today host representatives from Western Australian businesses at the first of its Future Frigate industry engagement forums. Attendees at the Technology Park Function Centre will receive briefings on opportunities for Australian industry to participate in Navantia Australia’s offering in areas as diverse as steel bulkheads, propulsion units and electronic systems.
“West Australian industry has a range of strong naval capabilities which can provide excellent solutions as part of Navantia’s plan for growth in Australia,” said Francisco Barón, Managing Director of Navantia Australia.
“Australian industry has a strong track record on naval programs such as the Navantia- designed Air Warfare Destroyer. We see opportunities for companies from Western Australia to have a strong participation not only in upcoming Australian programs, but also in ships provided by Navantia to customers around the world.”
The over 100 people currently employed by Navantia Australia operate out of four facilities around the country, with plans to open a Western Australian facility by 2018.
Navantia is currently participating in the Competitive Evaluation Process for the Future Frigate Program, and is seeking interested Australian companies to participate in the design and construction of Australia’s next generation of naval vessels.
