Opportunities for SA Companies on Future Frigate – Navantia’s F-5000

20 March 2017

Navantia Australia welcomes South Australian businesses to industry engagement forums.

Navantia Australia will today host representatives from South Australian businesses at its Future Frigate industry engagement at the Crowne Plaza, Adelaide. Attendees will receive briefings on opportunities for Australian industry to participate in Navantia Australia’s offering in areas as diverse as ship works, mechanical and electrical systems, electronic systems, and program support services.

“South Australia and the shipbuilding industry go hand in hand – it’s a partnership that Navantia is proud to be a part of,” said Francisco Barón, Managing Director of Navantia Australia.

“Australian industry, particularly in South Australia, has a strong track record on naval programs such as the Navantia-designed Hobart Class Destroyer, our reference ship for the Future Frigate Program.”

“Australia’s continuous shipbuilding has already begun – that’s why it’s vital that Navantia continues to engage with industry and build on our strong links with local supply, experience and expertise here in South Australia”.

“The existing Hobart Class supply chain is a key starting point for our F-5000 proposal for the Future Frigate Program”

Over 100 people are currently employed by Navantia Australia and operate out of four facilities around the country, with plans to open an additional Australian facility by 2018.

Navantia is currently participating in the Competitive Evaluation Process for the Future Frigate Program, and wishes to identify Australian companies interested in participating in the design and construction of Australia’s next generation of naval vessels.

Navantia’s industry days will run throughout February, March and April. All interested companies are invited to register their interest through www.navantiasea5000.icn.org.au.
