Navantia Australia awarded DDG Platform Systems Design contract

Navantia Australia has been engaged by the Commonwealth of Australia as the Platform Systems Designer for the SEA4000 Phase 6 Hobart Class Guided Missile Destroyer Combat Systems upgrade. This appointment recognises the position, expertise and knowledge of Navantia Australia as the Hobart Class Guided Missile Destroyer designer to support the Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) program, incorporating the upgrade to Aegis Baseline 9 under the SEA4000 Phase 6 project. The DCE will see the creation of up to 40 full time design and engineering jobs with Navantia Australia in the fields of Combat Systems Interface into the Platform, Naval Architecture, Outfitting, Electrical, Mechanical, Structures, Design Drafting and Systems Engineering.

Navantia Australia is building a sovereign Naval Design and Engineering capability

The Hon. Brendan O’Connor MP, Minister for Skills and Training visited Navantia Australia’s Naval Design and Engineering Centre (DEC) in Docklands, Victoria on Thursday, 27 July 2023, meeting with the Centre’s 100 strong Australian workforce. The DEC is the heart of Navantia Australia’s naval ship design and engineering capacity and is dedicated to delivering technological solutions to the Royal Australian Navy.
