Navantia Australia Proud to Support Baker Gordon Shield

Adelaide, 12 November 2017

Today, teams from RAAF Edinburgh and 7RAR square off to raise money for the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in the inaugural Baker Gordon Shield T20 Cricket Match. Navantia Australia is proud to be the major sponsor of this event.

It is impossible to imagine what it must be like to know that your child isn’t going to have much time on this earth. For people who find themselves in this tragic circumstance, as a community we need to support them in any way we can.

The TeamKids Beach House we are raising funds for today will provide the kids of the Women’s and Children’s Hospital a very special place to enjoy much needed time away from hospital with their families. The Beach House will give families a chance to enjoy time with one another and build memories together. It will provide a sanctuary for those who are caring-around-the-clock for their suffering children, and be a place of comfort and peacefulness.

At Navantia Australia we are very proud to be able to support this initiative. We’ve been involved in building the Hobart Class destroyers at the shipyards at Osborne since 2009, and it is very important for us to contribute to the South Australian community that we and our people are a part of. This is a community which we will be a part of for many years, with our Australian design and operations team based in Mawson Lakes and, we hope, from 2020 Navantia Australia will be building the next generation of Australian warships.
